Oh, yes. Far less nervous now. I've been here for months, have friends that live here, and someone very dear to me is here, as well.

I'm glad! Having friends helps. I'm lucky to have a few familiar faces around too. It's definitely helping already.

I know it has helped a great deal when no one knew of my world or my kind.

That's right. Friends from back home. Well. Mostly friends. Sort of friends, in some cases. And my daughter is here, too. I'm really grateful for that. I wouldn't want to be separated from her any longer than I already have.

Oh, I can only imagine. Having loved ones here is quite the blessing.

Yes. I am not what others would call "human". I am a Hobbit. And my home is The Shire in a land called Middle-Earth.

Oh! I've never met a Hobbit before. But some of my closest friends aren't what others would call human, either.

Most people here haven't. I'm the first for a lot of humans, it seems.

Well! Some of my very closest friends are dwarves. But I've also known fairies and mermaids, among others.

Oh! Well we have something in common then. The dwarves I've known are wonderful. They took me in when I had nowhere else to go. I couldn't ask for braver or more loyal friends.

I've never met an elf, though. Or a wizard, though I've known a few people who can use magic.
